What is Trauma Therapy?
This approach combines evidenced-based therapy modalities to treat trauma in a safe, nonjudgmental, confidential space. Ruth is an EMDR Integrative therapist and blends EMDR with Internal Family Systems, Somatic and Spiritual counseling, as well as energy assessment/clearing, sound healing and reiki. Ruth works in partnership with clients to create a clear map towards healing.
What is a Sensitive Soul?
How do you know if you're a "Sensitive Soul?" The term Highly Sensitive Person was coined by Dr. Elaine Aaron, PhD and some characteristics are: You have deep emotional depth and intuition, you struggle to make sense of the world at times, you have deep empathy, you were born with sensitivity to loud noises, strong smells and coarse fabrics, you often feel "different" and may have been told that you were "shy", "too much", "too sensitive" or "too caring", you have the ability to perceive connections between things, you are moved by art and music, you are often a creative, you "mask" in social settings, you may people please, you need time alone to reset, you crave authentic, meaningful relationships and can struggle with low self-esteem. If many of these sound like you, are most likely a sensitive person.
What is Internal Family Systems?
Internal Family System (IFS) is a talk therapy modality that allows us to get to know different parts of ourselves. IFS encourages us to offer ourselves self-compassion.
What is EMDR?
EMDR, which stands for: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidenced-based therapy that can help clients heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, people pleasing, low self-esteem and more. This therapy uses bilateral stimulation, to help the brain process painful experiences, release old negative beliefs and create positive self beliefs. EMDR can help clients regain a sense of calm, peace, grounding and freedom from the past.
What are EMDR Intensives?
EMDR intensives are EMDR sessions are done for 90 minutes or longer or are done several days in a row, for 2-3 hours. For some people who don't have time for weekly or bi weekly therapy, an EMDR intensive can be a great way to heal a specific issue in a faster way.
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic Therapy is a bottoms up trauma therapy approach that incorporates polyvagal theory, nervous system awareness, a connection between our mind and our bodies and a way to release stored emotions from our nervous system.
What is Spiritual Counseling?
Spiritual Counseling uses non-religious, spiritual and metaphysical modalities, to help clients learn about themselves and develop healthy coping skills. Ruth is a 300 hour yoga teacher, a certified Health Counselor, sound healer and reiki practitioner. She draws from Buddhist and yogic philosophies, as well as metaphysical modalities, such as: astrology, numerology, the enneagram, sound healing, reiki and more.

What is couples counseling?
I'm an Imago Relationship trained therapist, which focuses on helping couples communicate in a healthier way. I also use somatic approaches to help clients learn to coregulate, create safety and repair ruptures faster. LGBTQIA+, Kink, Polyamory and CNM couples are welcome. Blue Cross, Blue Choice does not cover couples therapy. Rate is: $220 for 60 minute session.
Do you accept insurance?
I accept Blue Cross, Care First. Out of pocket rate for individual sessions: $180 for 50-minute session and $220 for couples.
How frequent and how long are sessions?
I meet with clients once a week or once every other week, depending on your individual needs. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. I discuss length of treatment, as well as knowing when it’s time to graduate.
What happens during the first appointment?
This is the initial intake, where we will discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals and the length of treatment.
