What is a Sensitive Soul?
How do you know if you're a sensitive adult? The term "Highly Sensitive Person" was coined by Dr. Elaine Aaron, PhD and some characteristics are: You have deep emotional depth and intuition, you struggle to make sense of the world at times, you have deep empathy, you often feel "different" and may have been told that you were "shy", "too much", "too sensitive" or "too caring", you have the ability to perceive connections between things, you are often a creative, you mask your true self in social settings, you may people please, you need time alone to reset, you crave authentic, meaningful relationships and can struggle with low self-esteem. If many of these sound like you, are most likely a sensitive person.
What is Internal Family Systems?
Internal Family System (IFS) is a talk therapy modality that allows us to get to know different parts of ourselves. IFS encourages us to offer ourselves self-compassion.
What is EMDR?
EMDR, which stands for: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is an evidenced-and brain based therapy that can help clients heal from trauma and more. This therapy uses bilateral stimulation and dual awareness, to help the brain process past painful experiences and memories. Research shows that our brain wants to release and rewire old stuck neural pathways related to trauma, that show up as sensations, negative self beliefs, feelings and thoughts. EMDR can help us rewire our neural networks and create secure attachment, nervous system regulation, positive beliefs about ourselves, and a sense of safety, choice, power and wholeness.
What are EMDR Intensives?
EMDR Intensives are longer EMDR sessions done for 2 to 3 hours. These sessions include 1-2 prep sessions and a post Integration session. For those who want a deeper dive into their healing, who don't want traditional therapy or who want an adjunct to their talk therapy, EMDR Intensives can be a great way to heal a specific issue in a faster, more efficient way.
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic Therapy is a bottoms up trauma therapy approach that incorporates polyvagal theory, nervous system awareness, a connection between our mind and our bodies and a way to release stored emotions from our nervous system.
